This book does not set out to be a guide, a history of the area or any sort of itinerary — it is merely an idiosyncratic collection of entirely unrelated facts and stories garnered during a lifetime's intimate knowledge of East Devon. Most can be seen and enjoyed by anyone but a few are private, whilst the few stories told are relatively little-known. Map references are given for locations which might be slightly tricky to locate, but not for those which are private properties.
