Torquay or even Plymouth. Many generations have used this facility to
get to the western side of the estuary, so avoiding a round trip of 20
miles via the lowest crossing point of the river at Exeter. For just
how many generations the Exmouth to Starcross Ferry has operated it is
impossible to discover. I have endeavoured, from a multitude of sources
to trace the history of the ferry, its owners, managers and operators."
